Covid-19: a team of Cuban doctors and nurses has also landed at Malpensa

Milan Malpensa Airport continues to be a focal point of medical aids to Italy. The delegation of 37 Cuban doctors and 15 nurses landed on Sunday 22, shortly after 6 p.m. They will immediately help the medical workers of the Lombard hospitals, reaching the city of Crema.

The group of doctors includes a chief of staff, dr. Carlos Perez Dias, director of the "Joaquin Albarran" hospital in Havana, a manager of logistics and coordination, 35 doctors, including 23 specialists in integral general medicine, 3 pulmonologists, 3 intensivists, 3 infectious disease specialists and 3 emergency specialists. The group is completed by 15 nurses, including 7 intensivists and 8 specialized in emergencies.

The 52 Cuban health experts were welcomed by Vice-President Fabrizio Sala, the Regional Councilor for the Territory and Civil Protection Pietro Foroni, the Undersecretary of the Presidency of the Lombardy Region with responsibility for Relations with international delegations Alan Christian Rizzi.

President Attilio Fontana contacted Josè Carlo Rodriguez Ruiz, the Cuban ambassador to Italy, to thank Cuba for its great willingness to help Lombardy. The journey from Havana to Italy was organized by Alitalia in response to the request of the Prime Minister and Civil Protection.
